Resolving Into 2024
We do this every year - make resolutions around January 1, forget some of them, and then go on with our lives. The flip of the calendar to a new year is often one of the only times I allow life to slow down enough that I reflect on what came before and make plans for the life I would like to create in 2024.
For 2024, I took one more step to create a design in Canva (share link) that I hung above my desk featuring some “attitude adjustment” goals and more concrete ones. I firmly believe that a targeted mindset, tangible goals, and milestones can move us toward what we wish to achieve. Whether this is because it implants the possibility in the psyche or is the result of the forces of universe science has yet to be conclusive. I subscribe to a bit of both.
When I work with clients, I often see they have not spent much time reflecting upon their goals and outlining the steps to achieve them. I don’t blame them. Small business is challenging, and the flow of work and fires to put out can be relentless. As small business owners, me included, setting goals (and tasks to achieve them) is essential to arriving somewhere better.
I hope you take some time in the next month to do some reflection and goal-setting and perhaps print your own resolution design to hang above your work area. Ask your staff to do it too. Your business will thank you for it.
